The Beginning

The idea for RezoomCareer began during my own job search as a graduate student. I noticed that many international students and early-career professionals around me were struggling to get interview calls despite having strong skills and experience. The main issue wasn’t their ability — it was the system. Most resumes were getting rejected by Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) before a human even saw them.

I realized there was a gap: people didn’t need another generic resume builder — they needed a trusted platform that helps them create ATS-optimized, visually clean, and recruiter-friendly resumes. That realization shaped the foundation of RezoomCareer a design-driven career platform focused on clarity, structure, and user confidence.

User Research & Personas

To validate the idea, I conducted one-on-one interviews and surveys with a diverse set of users. I spoke to international students applying for OPT/CPT roles, professionals switching industries, and recruiters who regularly review hundreds of resumes.

The research uncovered three major insights:

  1. ATS Barriers: Nearly everyone had experienced rejection from automated systems without feedback.

  2. Knowledge Gap: Most users were unaware of how formatting, keywords, and structure affected their resume performance.

  3. Emotional Impact: Repeated rejection led to frustration, loss of confidence, and self-doubt.

Using these insights, I built two primary personas:

  • Priya, a 24-year-old international student applying for data analyst roles. She values clarity and step-by-step guidance to improve her resume and confidence.

  • Michael, a 30-year-old marketing professional transitioning into tech. He wants a quick, reliable service that delivers professional documents without complex onboarding.

These personas helped me keep the product grounded in real user behavior — balancing empathy and efficiency.

Design & Development

In the design phase, I wanted to reflect the seriousness and professionalism of job seekers while keeping the experience approachable. I used Figma to wireframe and prototype the flow, focusing on a minimal black-and-white interface that represents focus and trust.

The logo, which merges a quill pen with a checkmark, became the visual metaphor of the brand — symbolizing carefully crafted resumes that “tick all the right boxes.” Typography was kept neutral and readable, ensuring a professional look across devices.

The site structure was intentionally simple:
Home → Services → Upload Resume → Secure Payment → Confirmation.
This linear path reduced cognitive load and ensured a frictionless experience for users unfamiliar with digital forms.

I implemented the design using WordPress for its scalability and plugin flexibility. Key integrations included:

  • Forminator Forms – for structured data collection and resume uploads.

  • Stripe – for safe, seamless online payments.

  • SSL Certification – to reinforce trust and professionalism.

To refine usability, I tested the prototype with five users who fit my personas. One early test showed confusion around the pricing section, which I solved by simplifying it into clear, visual plan cards. Another round of feedback led me to enlarge CTAs and make the “Upload Resume” button more prominent.

The result was a clean, conversion-focused interface that felt approachable, credible, and efficient.

Summary :

RezoomCareer was officially registered as an LLC in Missouri, marking its transition from concept to real business. Within the first few weeks, the platform gained organic traction through LinkedIn and word-of-mouth referrals. Early users reported improved interview callbacks after using the resume services — validating the design and purpose of the product.

As both founder and designer, I learned to balance business goals with user experience. I discovered how minimal design builds user trust, how research shapes strategy, and how technology can empower emotional confidence.

Looking ahead, I’m evolving RezoomCareer into an AI-driven resume platform with personalized dashboards, ATS scoring insights, and LinkedIn optimization — merging data analytics, product thinking, and human-centered design.
